About The Position

Operate one or several types of power construction equipment to excavate, move, and/or grade material. The role supports maintenance and repair of roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping on surfaces ranging from smooth to extremely rough.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
• Must possess working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must have all required tools.
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces, which may exceed 200 feet.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by workload.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and large heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping materials.
• Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads; and spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culvert, water pipe, and sewer pipe installation; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain equipment fluid levels and lubrication.
• May instruct and train employees in safe construction equipment and tool operation and in job techniques and skills.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of errors, problems, or defects.
• Observe and comply with safety and project rules; perform other duties as required.
