About The Position

Baptist Health is hiring an Armed Security Officer for its Protective Services Department at Baptist Downtown. The role's primary function is to help ensure the day-to-day safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees by patrolling and monitoring medical center properties. The team is implementing technologies such as metal detectors, with patient safety and experience as priorities. The position is full-time and works night shifts of 12 hours, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:15 a.m. The role is located at the Downtown Main Building in Jacksonville, Florida. A sign-on bonus of up to $1,500 may be available to external hires. Positions requiring a Level II background check are subject to detailed fingerprint-based state and national criminal-history screening as a condition of employment and continued employment.

Requirements

• More than 5 years of law enforcement experience.
• High school diploma.
• Driver's license.
• Licensed Security Officer—Class D.
• Licensed Security Officer—Class G.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree.
• International Association for Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Advanced Certification.
• International Association for Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Safety Certification.
• International Association for Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Certification.

Responsibilities

• Report unusual circumstances and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Protect individuals from harm by monitoring for safety hazards.
• Provide escort services.
• Respond to unsafe situations.
• Enforce hospital parking regulations.
• Assist individuals with vehicle problems.
• Respond and take appropriate action whenever there is an imminent threat to human life.
