Requirements

  • Possess an Armed Guard Card/License.
  • Have at least 6 months of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or members of the public while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a government corrections location.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of assigned facilities, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor and control access to restricted areas, verify credentials as required, and report unauthorized entry attempts or policy violations.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established procedures and coordinating with appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare accurate reports, maintain required logs, and promptly communicate observations, incidents, and unusual conditions to Allied Universal supervision and site leadership.
