On-Call Arena Attendant
About The Position
The Arena Attendant is responsible for the general maintenance and cleaning of the receiving barns and arena. The role includes maintaining pipe and drape, staging, the Truss Grid system, equipment, plumbing, and other related arena systems and equipment. The attendant sets up and tears down events, cleans and prepares shed rows and stalls before horses and livestock arrive, and keeps the receiving arena and barn presentable. Duties also include general building and floor cleanup, maintaining event furnishings and equipment, operating heavy equipment, and overseeing touring-event connections to house electrical equipment.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to walk, stand, lift, shovel, rake, reach, bend, and twist throughout the shift.
- Must be skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses and/or certifications.
Responsibilities
- Clean shed rows and stalls thoroughly each day before horses and livestock ship in.
- Rake shed rows and stalls.
- Prepare and maintain the receiving arena and barn so they look presentable for events.
- Perform receiving arena and barn maintenance, including hanging gates, installing screw eyes, and changing light bulbs.
- Maintain stage risers to ensure safety.
- Maintain pipe and drape, chair risers, and chairs.
- Change arena lighting as necessary.
- Clean and organize arena assets.
- Operate heavy equipment, including forklifts, tractors, sky tracks, and boom lifts.
- Oversee the connection of touring events to house electrical equipment.
- Assist with event setup and teardown.
- Perform general cleanup of the floor and building.
- Maintain arena systems and equipment, including staging, the Truss Grid system, and plumbing.
