About The Position

The Area Field Manager promotes the U-Haul brand and educates independent business partners and leaders about the benefits of becoming a U-Haul dealer. The role manages a designated route and works with small businesses and dealerships to grow the dealership organization, improve local market performance, and provide U-Haul products and services to the communities served. The position includes field work, equipment distribution and upkeep, minor repairs, and ongoing learning through U-Haul University.

The position is based at 5400 S Cedar St, Lansing, Michigan 48911. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record to operate commercial motor vehicles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a D.O.T. health certificate from a federally registered medical examiner.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship.
• U-Haul will not hire or re-hire nicotine product users in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Prospect small businesses within the designated route and open and grow the U-Haul dealership organization.
• Develop and manage business relationships with small business owners and U-Haul dealerships, provide professional insight into local markets, and train and educate dealers on potential areas for growth.
• Manage the route’s profit and loss through analysis and grow the route’s transactions by providing products and services to local communities.
• Service and maintain U-Haul equipment and displays to support operational excellence and marketability.
• Work with support staff to help U-Haul dealerships within the route succeed efficiently.
• Operate and maintain a properly stocked U-Haul service vehicle used to distribute equipment throughout the route.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on U-Haul equipment.
• Arrange recovery of lost, stolen, or abandoned U-Haul equipment.
• Participate in ongoing U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
