About The Position

The Area Enumerator supports agricultural producers by collecting accurate, unbiased data that farmers, ranchers, rural communities, and agricultural businesses rely on. The role involves conducting professional, representative interviews with diverse agricultural operations, both in person and over the telephone, and conducting crop counts in designated agricultural fields. Enumerators receive comprehensive study-specific training covering animal and plant health, farming practices, procedures, and questionnaires. The position includes on-the-job training, schedule flexibility, and opportunities for professional advancement. Starting pay is $17.75, plus mileage reimbursement and required supplies. A background check is required.

Requirements

Prior experience in sales or agriculture is highly desirable.
Experience working with diverse personalities is highly desirable.
Basic mathematical skills are highly desirable.
Have a private workspace with a functional telephone and minimal distractions.
Maintain a personal vehicle for travel related to field enumerator duties.
Have a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.
Be proficient with computer systems and/or iPads.
Have experience working in a deadline-driven environment with multiple tasks.
Be able to examine crop status in corn or soybean fields.
Be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Be able to walk unassisted on uneven ground for up to 100 yards.
Be able to travel up to 250 miles quarterly for training, as needed.
Pass a background check.

Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth survey interviews with agricultural operations in person and over the telephone.
Communicate the benefits of survey-related activities in a professional and representative manner.
Conduct crop counts in designated agricultural fields.
Enter detailed data collected from agricultural operators in a timely manner.
Report daily progress, time, and mileage.
Travel for field enumerator duties and, as needed, quarterly training.
