About The Position

This posting is for an ITA1911 A course, Elementary Italian I, for the Fall 2026 academic period. The course is designed for beginners with no prior knowledge of Italian, focusing on the acquisition of fundamental speaking, reading, and writing skills. It includes the study of vocabulary and grammar, oral and written practice, and utilizes computer-assisted learning, music, and video. The course component is a lecture (Cours magistral). The posting is limited to Regular Part-Time Professors. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The hourly rate for language courses is $203.54 (2024-2025), which does not include vacation or statutory pay. These rates are subject to change upon ratification of a new collective agreement, with retroactive pay provided after ratification. The course is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 17:30 to 19:00. The mode of instruction is in-person.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Italian or equivalent.
  • Italian-speaking or near-native linguistic competence in Italian.
  • Experience in teaching Italian at the beginner level in a university setting.
  • Experience in creating and managing virtual content and applications for virtual teaching.
  • Experience with Brightspace.
  • Bilingual (French and English).

Responsibilities

  • Teach Elementary Italian I (ITA1911 Section A) during the Fall 2026 semester.
