About The Position

This course is for beginners with no prior knowledge of Italian. The goal is to acquire fundamental speaking, reading, and writing skills in Italian. The curriculum includes the study of vocabulary and grammar, oral and written practice, and computer-assisted learning, supplemented with music and video. This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor for the Elementary Italian I course (ITA1911 Section B) during the 2026 Fall Semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Arts, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Italian or equivalent.
  • Italian-speaking or near-native linguistic competence in Italian.
  • Experience in teaching Italian at the beginner level at a university.
  • Experience in creating and managing virtual content and applications related to virtual teaching.
  • Experience with Brightspace.
  • Bilingual (French and English).

Responsibilities

  • Teach Elementary Italian I (ITA1911 Section B) to beginners.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of fundamental speaking, reading, and writing skills in Italian.
  • Conduct studies of Italian vocabulary and grammar.
  • Provide oral and written practice exercises.
  • Utilize computer-assisted learning, music, and video in instruction.
  • Create and manage virtual content and applications related to virtual teaching.
  • Experience with Brightspace.
