About The Position

This posting is for a Regular Part-Time Professor position for the Fall 2026 semester, teaching two combined courses: PED 3540 (Apprentissage et enseignement à l'élémentaire) and PED 3550 (Apprentissage et enseignement au secondaire). The courses will be taught in French on the Main Campus. PED 3540 will examine major theories of child learning (behaviorism, humanism, cognitivism, constructivism), associated pedagogical processes and currents, Indigenous perspectives on learning, and the impact of epistemological stances on the teacher's role and pedagogical choices. It will also study teaching practices that foster learning for primary and middle school students in a diverse, minority context. PED 3550 will cover similar theories of adolescent learning and pedagogical approaches, Indigenous perspectives, the impact of epistemological stances, and teaching practices that foster learning for secondary students in a diverse, minority context.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education required; a Ph.D. in Education is preferred.
  • At least one of the following: recent full-time teaching experience in a school or administrative experience within a school board, including 2 years of implementing the Ontario curriculum for the course subject with a specialist qualification for the course subject; or current, peer-reviewed research record for the course subject; or recent Ph.D. comprehensive examination for the course subject.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the current Ontario Curriculum related to the course subject and Ontario Ministry of Education documents related to the course subject.
  • Proven ability to apply the Ontario College of Teachers' Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational and/or demonstrated experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach PED 3540 Apprentissage et enseignement à l'élémentaire, covering child learning theories, pedagogical currents, Indigenous perspectives, and teaching practices for primary and middle school students.
  • Teach PED 3550 Apprentissage et enseignement au secondaire, covering adolescent learning theories, pedagogical currents, Indigenous perspectives, and teaching practices for secondary students.
  • Apply the Ontario College of Teachers' Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
