Applied AI Engineer, Go-to-Market

Tutor Intelligence•Watertown, MA

About The Position

Tutor Intelligence is hiring its first Applied AI Engineer dedicated to go-to-market. The role will build and steward the systems Tutor uses to find, win, and grow customers across the physical economy. It combines software engineering with close involvement in the go-to-market team: the engineer will write and own software, embed with account executives, sales enablement, and demand generation, and take ownership of team outcomes through technology. The engineer will join Tutor’s forward-deployed AI engineering team, whose engineers work across functions including deployment, manufacturing, maintenance, and hardware and software engineering. The role begins by taking over and extending existing go-to-market tools, then evolves those systems as the business grows. Work is largely self-directed, starting from goals and building workflows, tools, and AI agents from scratch where existing off-the-shelf tools fall short. The role is embedded in a business function rather than product engineering or research. It involves working alongside sellers, joining customer calls and trade shows, observing deployments, and identifying opportunities to build new systems. Success is measured by outcomes such as pipeline, conversion, and seller time.

Requirements

  • Have architected and shipped a real system end to end, such as a product, internal tool, or infrastructure, and be able to explain its design choices.
  • Write working software using Python or TypeScript, SQL, and APIs.
  • Build with LLMs and AI coding tools every day.
  • Have a technical background and experience or focus in another area, such as product, strategy, operations, sales, or founding a company.
  • Demonstrate passion for, interest in, or experience with go-to-market, such as selling, growth, partnerships, or building for sales teams; prior go-to-market job title is not required.
  • Learn quickly, take on ambiguous problems with little direction, and seek to make a mark.
  • Want to be embedded in a business function; this is not a product engineering or research role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with operations, manufacturing, logistics, or other industrial customers.
  • Experience building go-to-market systems at an early-stage B2B company, ideally in hardware or robotics.
  • Technical program management or product management experience, or experience as a founder or first-of-function hire.
  • Experience with data warehouses and BI tools.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build the systems that support Tutor’s go-to-market motion, including CRM features and data models when off-the-shelf tools are inadequate.
  • Build AI agents to automate sales workflows end to end, including account research, outbound, call preparation, follow-ups, and deal qualification.
  • Use AI and software to map markets and Tutor’s penetration across the physical economy, and use the analysis to inform where the company should go next.
  • Connect go-to-market systems to Tutor’s broader stack, including robot performance and deployment data, the demo center, internal documents, and the agent platform.
  • Take over, extend, and maintain existing go-to-market tools as the team and business scale.
  • Work directly with account executives, join customer calls and trade shows, observe deployments, and identify new systems to build.
  • Measure delivered work by its effect on pipeline, conversion, and seller time.

Benefits

  • Fully employer-covered health insurance.
  • A managed 401(k).
  • Unlimited PTO and all federal holidays off for full-time salaried employees.
  • For hourly employees, 16+ days of accrued paid time off and 1.5x pay on federal holidays.
  • Regular in-office meals and team social events throughout the year.
