The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Division of Driver Licensing is hiring Driver License Credentialing Specialists to support implementation of a new digitized driver license issuance system and meet federal Real ID requirements. The role involves learning driver license issuance procedures and state and federal rules, including REAL ID, Commercial Driver License, and National Driver Register requirements. Specialists review and analyze applicants’ secure documents and personal information, process complex non-U.S. citizen applications, and advise applicants about driver licensing questions and concerns. Specialists must learn and use the Kentucky Driver's License Information System (KDLIS)/IDEMIA issuance program, interpret driver history records, and enter data accurately. They may be assigned to a mobile unit and travel to locations across Kentucky, such as manufacturing centers, libraries, prisons, and other local service areas. Local travel between offices and overnight stays may be required. The employer’s vehicle will be used; employees are not expected to use their own vehicle. The position requires professional conduct, a valid driver license, and a good driving record, which will be screened periodically. Candidates must pass federal fingerprint background checks. The position is a contract role based onsite in Henderson, Kentucky. Overtime, including evenings, may be necessary, up to approximately five hours per week; Saturday work is required, typically on the first Saturday of each month. The stated pay is $16.70 per hour. The posting says candidates should have a bachelor’s or associate degree, or qualifying administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience substituted year for year. Advancement opportunities may be available within the Division of Driver Licensing.
