Requirements

  • 3 to 4 years of experience in hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BSE or BEng) in a relevant field, or equivalent technologist training, or 5 years of experience in hydraulics and/or pneumatics.
  • Consent to a criminal background check and driver’s abstract by Wainbee.
  • Ability to travel to client sites when required.
  • Ability to communicate, write, and read in both French and English.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with 3D design software (SolidWorks, Atout).
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Intermediate level in Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience (an asset).
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and electrical design systems (an asset).

Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients and define their needs.
  • Design hydraulic power units (HPUs) and pneumatic systems.
  • Select system components and prepare requisition requests.
  • Produce detailed hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and comprehensive technical documentation (in English and French).
  • Perform calculations to determine required system capacities.
  • Prepare detailed specifications, project cost estimates, and technical proposals (in English and French).
  • Collaborate closely with team members to refine and implement innovative concepts while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Plan and monitor projects.
  • Support production and certain installations as needed.
  • Oversee the design of assembly drawings.
  • Act as the technical authority in the development of proposals and quotes, collaborating with sales teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, procurement, and service teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Maintain a high level of quality by establishing and enforcing rigorous procedures to meet engineering standards and customer expectations.
  • Identify efficiency issues and propose solutions to reduce them.
  • Communicate delays against timelines within a reasonable timeframe.
