About The Position

As an Application Engineer, you will work with a dynamic team to provide technical support for Advantest 93000 Semiconductor Test Systems and develop applications for customers and partners. The role spans customer-facing sales and support activities, integration of products and services into customer environments, and development and optimization of electrical test programs for high-speed ATE and semiconductor devices. You will analyze customer requirements and design technically valid solutions that meet business objectives. The position also involves planning and coordinating complex projects, developing and delivering customer training, designing evaluation and load boards, investigating test methodologies and product issues, improving yield and production test performance, and supporting test transfers to offshore manufacturing sites and subcontractors. Test documentation and program version control must be maintained.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a fully accredited college or university; alternatively, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with ATE knowledge is strongly desired.
2–5 years of experience in electrical or wireless testing of SoC integrated circuits in a Test/Application Engineering role.
Understanding of integrated device parameters, test philosophy, high-speed digital fundamentals, industry-standard test methods, test equipment operation, capabilities, limitations, troubleshooting, and automation.
In-depth knowledge of digital and analog CMOS SoC integrated-device methodologies.
Strong test-programming and debug experience with the Advantest 93000 tester.
Skill in ATE architecture, test hardware design and debugging, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
Knowledge of the proper and effective use of laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
Experience coordinating complex projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
Competency in C, C++, Java, and scripting languages such as Perl, Python, and Shell in Linux OS.
Strong attention to detail, verbal communication, and written skills; ability to work positively in a diverse, team-structured environment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-oriented team environment and escalate critical issues to senior management.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice to support customers.

Nice To Haves

Strong technical knowledge of SmarTest-7 and SmarTest-8 TestMethod development.
Working experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or VS Code.
Qualification in data analysis for characterization reports and yield reporting using tools such as Excel, VBA, or data logs.
Familiarity with analyzing STDF datalog files and writing parsers to read all records.
Knowledge of thermal management technologies and methodologies.
Knowledge of Advantest competitor tester platforms.
Experience writing and presenting technical papers.
Experience coaching team members and Advantest customers.
Experience with SSN and PCIe.
Understanding of DFT (Design for Test), BIST, and scan-chain techniques.

Responsibilities

Work with cross-functional teams and Sales to develop sales and support strategies.
Support various stages of the sales process, including requirements analysis, feature demonstrations, benchmarks, competitive positioning, implementation, and execution.
Integrate Advantest products and services at the system and solution level into customer environments.
Analyze complex IC manufacturer requirements and advise on performance, design, utilization, optimization, test program development and conversions, and implementation strategies.
Design, scope, and validate technical solutions to achieve customer business objectives.
Generate project plans for complex projects and track completion across digital and high-speed SoC technologies.
Create and deliver customer training classes and consultation materials.
Communicate with customers about the completeness, repeatability, and accuracy of test programs; review issues and propose solutions.
Design evaluation, engineering, and production load boards, and work with PCB designers to ensure best practices are followed.
Define, develop, debug, and implement major elements of electrical test programs for specific device types using high-speed ATE and compliant test methodologies.
Conduct experimental investigations into test methodologies, test fixture design and development, product yield improvement, and process quality controls; analyze results and implement solutions.
Provide technical analysis of product issues and participate in resolving them.
Optimize test coverage, throughput, and test cost for high-volume production.
Support production test transfers to offshore manufacturing sites and test subcontractors.
Maintain test documentation, including program version control, procedures, and reports.
Travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice, to support customers.
