About The Position

OMICRON electronics Corp. USA is hiring an Application Engineer to provide technical support and application expertise for Partial Discharge (PD) diagnostics across North America. The role supports customers remotely and on site with PD testing and analysis of transformers, switchgear (AIS and GIS), rotating machines, cables, and other high-voltage assets. It includes customer visits, field demonstrations, commissioning, troubleshooting, training, and product consultation. The engineer also partners with sales engineers on pre-sales and post-sales support, coordinates technical issues with customers and internal teams, contributes technical materials and product feedback, and supports other primary testing technologies. The position is open at Level I or Level II. Level I typically suits candidates with 0–3 years of relevant experience; Level II typically suits candidates with 3–7 years. Final placement considers relevant experience, technical capabilities, independence, assignment complexity, customer-facing responsibility, and depth of PD expertise—not years of experience alone. The role requires a bachelor's degree in a specified engineering or closely related discipline and willingness to travel up to 50%, primarily in the United States and Canada, with occasional international travel. The work includes field activity and office work. The office is described as clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated, with low-to-moderate noise. OMICRON describes opportunities for growth and development in an international, multicultural company, a professional team, personal initiative supported by flat hierarchies, a commitment to work-life balance, and an attractive benefit package.

  • Level I: Typically 0–3 years of relevant experience in power systems, electrical engineering, or related fields.
  • Level II: Typically 3–7 years of relevant professional experience in power systems, substation testing, high-voltage testing, field diagnostics, electrical asset condition assessment, or utility, OEM, testing, or consulting environments.
  • Level II: Hands-on exposure to high-voltage testing and diagnostic methods.
  • Bachelor's degree is required; final level placement depends on experience, capabilities, independence, assignment complexity, customer-facing responsibility, and PD expertise.
