The Application Engineer leads complex partial discharge (PD) testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting for high-voltage assets, both on site and remotely. The role plans and performs measurements, evaluates data quality, interprets results, and provides technically sound recommendations to customers. Supported assets include transformers, air- and gas-insulated switchgear, rotating machines, cables, and other high-voltage equipment. This position serves as a lead technical contact for customer escalations and challenging applications, coordinating with customers and internal sales, product management, and engineering teams. It conducts customer visits, demonstrations, commissioning, workshops, and training; advises customers on PD theory, measurement methods, diagnostic limits, analysis, reporting, and asset condition assessment; and supports strategic pre- and post-sales work. The engineer also mentors colleagues, creates and reviews technical materials, provides structured field feedback to product and engineering teams, and supports other testing technologies as business needs require. The position requires travel of up to 50%, primarily within the United States and Canada. Trips are typically up to one week, with occasional international travel or longer stays. The work involves a clean, orderly, properly lit and ventilated office with low-to-moderate noise, as well as customer and field engagements. OMICRON describes opportunities for growth and development in an international, multicultural company, a professional team, personal initiative, flat hierarchies, a healthy work-life balance, and an attractive benefits package.
