About The Position
Sutter West Bay Medical Group is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its Headache Medicine team in San Francisco, California. The APC works collaboratively with fellowship-trained Headache Medicine physicians in a physician-support role and does not maintain an independent patient panel. The position supports urgent and acute headache management, expedited follow-up visits, and continuity of care for established patients. There are no inpatient responsibilities and no call, weekend, or holiday coverage. The role offers flexible scheduling and telehealth opportunities. The practice is located at 1100 Van Ness, Floor 6, in San Francisco. The team includes three Headache Medicine physicians and APC support. Sutter West Bay Medical Group is a multi-specialty medical group of nearly 500 clinicians serving the greater San Francisco area and partnering with Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation. Sutter Health describes its environment as physician-aligned and focused on innovation, advanced care, and access. The organization is developing the Sutter Advanced Neuroscience Complex at Mission Bernal in San Francisco, a five-story, 129,000-square-foot facility intended to serve as a regional hub for neurological care, advanced diagnostics, and research.
Requirements
- Current California Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license.
- DEA registration or eligibility for a full schedule.
- Prior experience in neurology, headache medicine, pain management, or a related field.
- Strong clinical judgment and a collaborative practice style.
Nice To Haves
- Experience performing Botox injections and nerve blocks is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage urgent, same-day, and acute headache visits.
- Provide short-term follow-up care for established headache patients.
- Assist with treatment management, medication adjustments, and patient education.
- Collaborate closely with Headache Medicine physicians to ensure timely access to care.
- Use Epic EMR and telehealth platforms to support patient care.
