Apartment Maintenance Technician

About The Position

Fairstead is hiring a Maintenance Technician to maintain the day-to-day operations of a property and take responsibility for maintaining its physical assets. The role includes routine inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, safety checks, preparing vacant units for new occupants, inventory management, and participation in an on-call rotation. The technician may need to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours.

Requirements

Mechanical skills to handle minor repairs and fixtures.
Knowledge of electricity to diagnose electrical problems and carry out minor repairs.
General maintenance skills.
Verbal and written communication skills for effective delivery of information.
Prior experience as a Service Technician or in a similar role.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds without assistance.
Dexterity and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

HVAC, CMRP, or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Inspect buildings and equipment regularly to identify needed repairs and improvements.
Perform preventative maintenance and property repairs as needed.
Implement maintenance policies and standards to prevent misuse of property appliances.
Help ensure properties are safe for occupants, visitors, and workers.
Clean and prepare vacated buildings and rooms for new occupants.
Check electrical wiring for accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Check safety systems and devices monthly to verify operational effectiveness.
Participate in the on-call rotation.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance problems, including those requiring attention outside normal working hours.
Maintain an inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.
