About The Position

Visual Concepts Entertainment, developer of the NBA 2K franchise, is seeking an experienced temporary Animator. The Animator will report directly to the Art Director and work on gameplay and other animation tasks using motion-capture data. The role involves polishing gameplay move sets, refining and editing captured data and props, addressing feedback, and delivering daily animation edits for supervisor review. The position requires working to project schedules and fast turnaround times.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of relevant experience.
• Detailed knowledge of Maya.
• Proficiency in animating realistic body motion and observing and animating subtleties of player movement.
• Ability to adapt quickly to iterative processes and technical innovation.
• Ability to manage workload independently and take initiative.
• Comfort with schedules and fast turnaround times.
• Ability to maintain motivation, demonstrate excellent work ethic, and work well with others.
• Experience using MotionBuilder for motion-capture data.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of MEL or Python scripting.
• Previous motion-capture experience.
• Knowledge of and interest in basketball.
• Love of video games.

Responsibilities

• Polish multiple gameplay move sets from motion-capture data using Maya.
• Address feedback in a timely manner.
• Work with lead and senior animators to modify assets to meet game-ready requirements.
• Meet project schedules efficiently.
• Clean up solving issues and improve data by adding hand poses and IK tokens for various features.
• Edit captured prop data and ensure character interactions with props meet the quality expected by the supervisor.
• Deliver a daily list of edited animations for the supervisor to review and revise.
• Assist other areas of animation outside gameplay while continuing to work with body motion-capture data.
