The Animal Care Supervisor (also described as the Companion Animal Supervisor) is a trusted subject-matter leader responsible for the health, care, and presentation of live animals while driving sales, customer experience, and operational excellence in the Companion Animal and Aquatics departments. The role leads through expertise and influence, coaching partners to deliver exceptional animal care and knowledgeable service, and combines a commitment to pet welfare with operational discipline and business acumen to achieve sales, margin, and shrink goals while modeling Petco’s leadership expectations. The position is primarily based in a Pet Care Center retail environment, with regular presence on the sales floor and frequent interaction with partners, customers, and pets. Most work is indoors, though occasional tasks may take place outside the center, such as bank deposits, merchandise transport, or community events. The role involves frequent standing and walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting, including safely moving merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. It also involves working near animals and potential exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. Flexible availability is required to support operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Limited travel may be required for training, meetings, or community engagement. Reasonable accommodation may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
