Animal Care Attendant (Flexible Working Hours)
About The Position
Destination Pet is hiring an Animal Care Attendant at Hope Animal Clinic. The role involves hands-on care for pets in a pet and veterinary care setting, helping ensure that pet guests are safe, comfortable, clean, and cared for. Work includes cleaning and sanitizing enclosures and play areas, providing food and water, monitoring pets, supervising play, assisting with brushing and bathing, and handling laundry and pet belongings. This is a physically active position involving exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal accidents. Pay starts at $13.00–$16.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus tips. Prior kennel or animal care experience is a plus, but candidates who are new to the field and eager to learn are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Love of animals.
- Maintain a cool, calm, and professional demeanor.
- Be willing to perform hands-on work that can get dirty.
- Be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Be able to remain on your feet for the duration of a shift.
- Be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
- Be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Prior kennel or animal care experience.
Responsibilities
- Keep pet enclosures and play areas clean, safe, and sanitized.
- Serve meals and provide fresh water to pets.
- Monitor the health and well-being of pet guests, including observing their waste, and report anything unusual to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Supervise pets during playtime.
- Assist with brushing and bathing pets.
- Handle laundry and pet belongings to ensure pets have clean items.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
