Animal Care Attendant
About The Position
Destination Pet is hiring an Animal Care Attendant at NY Dog Spa + Hotel 20th. The role supports day-to-day pet care at a pet care facility offering services such as day care, boarding, grooming, training, and veterinary services. The attendant helps keep pets safe, healthy, comfortable, and cared for throughout their stay. This is a hands-on, physically active position involving animal care, cleaning, and frequent standing and walking. The role requires availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays and includes exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal accidents. The position reports to the General Manager.
Requirements
- A strong love for animals.
- A calm and professional demeanor.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work and get dirty.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to remain on your feet for the duration of a shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Prior kennel or animal care experience.
Responsibilities
- Keep pet enclosures and play areas clean, safe, and sanitized.
- Serve meals and provide fresh water to pets.
- Monitor each pet guest’s health and well-being, including elimination, and report anything unusual to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Supervise pets during playtime.
- Assist with brushing and bathing.
- Handle laundry and pets’ belongings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
