Animal Care Attendant (Flexible Working Hours)
About The Position
Destination Pet is hiring an Animal Care Attendant at It's a Dogs Life. This hands-on role involves caring for pet guests and maintaining a safe, clean environment. Duties include feeding and watering animals, monitoring their health and well-being, supervising play, assisting with brushing and bathing, and handling laundry and pet belongings. The work is physically active and may involve exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal accidents. Prior kennel or animal-care experience is a plus, but applicants who are new to the field and eager to learn are welcome. The position reports to the General Manager.
Requirements
- A strong love of animals.
- A cool, calm, and professional demeanor.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work and get dirty.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to remain on one's feet for the duration of a shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work around cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal accidents.
Nice To Haves
- Prior kennel or animal-care experience.
Responsibilities
- Keep pet enclosures and play areas clean, safe, and sanitized.
- Serve meals and provide fresh water to pets.
- Monitor each pet guest’s health and well-being, including observing waste, and report unusual issues to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Supervise pets during playtime and activities.
- Assist with brushing and bathing.
- Handle laundry and pet belongings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
