About The Position
Destination Pet is hiring an Animal Care Attendant at Ruff Housing Cary. This is a hands-on role caring for pet guests in a pet-care facility. Duties include maintaining clean and safe animal spaces, providing food and water, monitoring animals’ health and behavior, supervising play, assisting with grooming and bathing, and handling laundry and pet belongings. The work involves being on your feet throughout the shift and exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal waste. Pay starts at $14.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus tips.
Requirements
- Availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
- Weekend availability and some weekday morning availability are required.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to remain on your feet for the duration of a shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
- Comfort working around cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal waste.
- A calm and professional demeanor and willingness to perform hands-on, messy work.
Nice To Haves
- Prior kennel or animal care experience.
Responsibilities
- Keep pet enclosures and play areas clean, safe, and sanitized.
- Serve meals and provide fresh water to pet guests.
- Monitor each pet guest’s health and wellbeing, including elimination, and report anything unusual to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Supervise pets during playtime.
- Assist with brushing and bathing.
- Handle laundry and pet belongings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
