Animal Care Attendant (Flexible Working Hours)
About The Position
Destination Pet is hiring an Animal Care Attendant at Ruff Housing Cary to provide hands-on care for pets in a pet care facility. The role involves cleaning and sanitizing enclosures and play areas, providing food and fresh water, monitoring each pet’s health and wellbeing, supervising play, and assisting with grooming and bathing. It also includes handling laundry and pets’ belongings and reporting unusual observations to the General Manager or Assistant Manager. This is an active, on-your-feet role with exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal accidents. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required.
Requirements
- A strong interest in and love for animals.
- A calm and professional demeanor.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work and get dirty.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to remain on feet for the duration of a shift and frequently stand, walk, and climb stairs.
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Prior kennel or animal care experience.
Responsibilities
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain pet enclosures and play areas.
- Serve meals and provide fresh water to pets.
- Monitor pets’ health and wellbeing, including observing their waste, and report anything unusual to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Supervise pets during playtime.
- Assist with brushing and bathing.
- Handle laundry and pets’ belongings to keep them clean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
