About The Position

The Angel Tree Warehouse Worker works in the Christmas center, handling donated goods and helping maintain a safe, organized warehouse. The role includes lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading donations such as furniture, appliances, and clothing; placing donations in designated areas; cleaning and setting up the warehouse; and assisting with pickups from malls or corporations when necessary. The worker also interacts with donors and helps promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.

This is a seasonal, full-time position in Valdosta, Georgia. The role involves strenuous physical work in a warehouse environment, including exposure to fluctuating temperatures, noise, dust, dirt, and related discomforts. Shifts may vary from day to night, and weekend on-call availability is required.

Requirements

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.
• Ability to walk continuously, stoop, stand, and do some climbing.
• Ability to follow instructions; the posting describes this as acquired through partial high school education.
• Friendly personality.
• Physical strength adequate to carry and unload materials from trucks and within the warehouse.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Lift and stack donations in the warehouse.
• Distribute donations to their proper places as instructed.
• Clean and service assigned areas in the Christmas Center.
• Pick up trash, empty garbage containers, and remove trash to the disposal area.
• Maintain good relationships with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
• Unload trucks at the Christmas warehouse.
• Assist with warehouse cleanup, layout, and setup.
• Assist with pickups from malls or corporations when necessary.
