About The Position

Anesthesiologist opening to join a dedicated, patient-focused care team at 52 Medicare-certified bed Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital is a voluntary nonprofit short-term acute care hospital with 52 Medicare-certified beds. Part of the Riverside Health system, this facility provides a full array of services and care to all patients while honoring its deep community roots. With expanding resources and technology, Riverside is dedicated to the healing mission to promote, maintain, and restore health and provide exceptional patient-focused care in a compassionate setting. The hospital has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals in the country by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) and a 2020 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Case assignments include Ophthalmology, G.I., orthopedics, urology, podiatry, general surgery, OB and occasional healthy peds. The schedule offers one week on and one week off, resulting in 26 weeks off per year. The Team Leadership is under Richard Sears, Chief Anesthesiologist.

Requirements

M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine
ECFMG and FLEX Completion
Completion of approved residency in anesthesia
Currently licensed as a physician

Responsibilities

Assist in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department
Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures
Pre-anesthesia assessment
Obtain and/or verify patient consent
Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition
Performance of clinical intervention as needed
