About The Position

The team provides patient care and supportive services that are directed toward the achievement of quality patient care outcomes, improvement of service levels, reduction in length of hospitalizations and reduction of cost. The AA is a certified non-physician anesthesia provider who demonstrates excellence in all areas of anesthesia practice including but not limited to anesthesia case management, staff education and clinical research. The AA manages complex, unpredictable anesthesia situations. The AA must be competent in technical, cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving anesthesia care and services. The AA is expected to practice within the established Medical Center guidelines, statutes established by the state medical board, anesthesia, (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to the Intensive Caring Value Statements. The AA works as a member of the patient care team and collaborates with an MDA in the anesthetic care of each and every patient.

Requirements

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited school for anesthesia assistants (18month or 24month program).
• Current certification from the NCCAA.
• Current licensure from the Ohio State Medical Board.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Must be eligible to obtain clinical privileges as designated by the OSUMC Corporate Credentialing Office.
• Must maintain the following NCCAA Certification
• Ohio State Medical Board Licensure
• ACLS certification
• Clinical credentials with OSUMC Corporate Credentialing.
