About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician works in the Anesthesia Department in Skokie, Illinois, on a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Under the direction of a supervisor, the technician assists with pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative procedures. Duties include preparing supplies and equipment before procedures, setting up rooms and turning them over, auditing and stocking anesthesia supply stations, maintaining supplies and equipment, calibrating point-of-care equipment, performing and documenting high-level sterilization procedures, providing basic equipment troubleshooting, and ordering supplies through the Lawson Material Management System.

Requirements

High school diploma with one year of experience as an Anesthesia Technician, Patient Care Technician, or Emergency Medical Technician; alternatively, an associate degree is required if the candidate has no clinical experience.
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Ability to occasionally lift patients and equipment, and to push and/or pull heavy objects.

Responsibilities

Assist during pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative procedures under the direction of a supervisor.
Set up supplies and equipment before procedures and turn over rooms.
Audit, stock, and maintain anesthesia supply stations.
Calibrate point-of-care equipment.
Perform and document high-level sterilization procedures.
Provide basic equipment troubleshooting.
Order supplies using the Lawson Material Management System.
