About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician coordinates and manages clinical and technical support activities for the anesthesia department. The role maintains, cleans, and troubleshoots anesthesia machines, physiologic monitoring systems, and related equipment. The technician prepares operating rooms and obstetric suites with supplies before surgery, supports efficient turnaround between cases, and maintains inventory control.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to stand and walk frequently, for a minimum of five hours per day.
Manual dexterity to handle and calibrate delicate medical tools and controls.
Close vision and ability to adjust focus rapidly.
Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

ASATT certification.
Prior knowledge of anesthesia equipment or previous experience in a surgical environment.

Responsibilities

Assist anesthesiologists and CRNAs with technical setup for general, regional, and local anesthesia.
Assist with placement of physical monitoring lines, including intravenous and intra-arterial catheters.
Verify the layout, sterility, and functioning of anesthesia equipment and disposable items before cases.
Order, stock, turn over, and set up anesthesia equipment in operating rooms daily and between surgical cases.
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize anesthesia equipment according to infection control policies.
Maintain equipment logs and update the department's equipment database.
Collaborate with vendor representatives to evaluate new clinical products, techniques, and procedures.
Track, use, and purchase medical supplies cost-effectively.
Follow facility exposure control plans for bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and radiation hazards.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
