About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician (Anesthesia Technologist I) works under the supervision and training of the Anesthesiology Clinical Instructor and the Manager of Anesthesiology or their designee. The role assists Anesthesiologists and CRNAs with technical preparation for anesthesia induction and airway management, and learns to prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for anesthesia and related procedures. After demonstrating proficiency, the technician joins the on-call rotation with a preceptor to gain experience with advanced cases that occur less frequently during daytime hours. Call duties are performed under supervision until the technician is ready for independent but supported work. During the first year, training is scheduled Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. After training, the schedule is Thursdays and Fridays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Call, including weekends, is required after training. On call days, the technician must be within 30 minutes of the hospital. The technician prepares anesthetizing locations and equipment for patients and procedures across operating rooms and other clinical areas; supports hemodynamic monitoring, airway management, patient care, equipment testing and troubleshooting, and blood-product and rapid-infuser processes; and follows relevant safety, sterile technique, disinfection, organizational, and customer-service requirements. The position also participates in quality improvement and mandatory education activities. A high school diploma or equivalent education and experience is required. No licensure, certification, or registration is required. Up to one year of hospital experience is preferred. Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment. The stated base hourly pay range is $22.00–$32.69; actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, location, responsibilities, shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, and overtime.
