Analog IC Design Engineer

Apple•San Diego, CA

About The Position

As a member of Apple’s dynamic group, the Analog IC Design Engineer will help craft products for Apple customers. The role involves designing and validating analog portions of integrated circuits, from behavioral modeling and transistor-level feasibility studies through block design, layout implementation, top-level integration, production testing, and lab validation. The engineer will also review yield and lab test results to drive bug fixes and design for ESD compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep knowledge of ADC/DAC architectures and selecting architectures appropriate to applications.
  • Deep knowledge of band-gaps, bias circuits, op-amps, switched-capacitor circuits, LDOs, feedback, and compensation techniques.
  • Significant knowledge of low-noise design techniques.
  • Significant knowledge of high-precision techniques in the presence of device mismatch.
  • Experience with C, Matlab, or Verilog modeling.
  • Strong device physics knowledge as applied to analog IC designs.
  • Proven working experience using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and similar equipment to validate analog designs.
  • Extensive experience working with production test engineers to refine test plans and design-for-testability details.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to specifications for analog portions of integrated circuits.
  • Develop behavioral models to validate architectures.
  • Conduct transistor-level feasibility studies for ADC/DAC blocks.
  • Design circuit blocks and document designs for formal design reviews.
  • Drive mask design to implement layout views of designs.
  • Run top-level simulations to validate top-level integration.
  • Define production- and bench-level test plans.
  • Take lab measurements to validate analog designs.
  • Drive and review yield and lab test results to identify and resolve bugs.
  • Design for ESD compliance.
