About The Position

The Tasmanian Health Service (THS) is seeking expressions of interest for the Tasmanian Anaesthetic Training Program (TATP) Registrar vacancies for 2025. The TATP is a state-wide anaesthetic training program compliant with ANZCA's guidelines and curriculum, offering training at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), Launceston General Hospital (LGH), and North West Regional Hospital (NWRH). The program has a strong academic record and high trainee satisfaction, providing rich clinical experience, protected education time, research opportunities, and a supportive environment. Positions are primarily length-of-training agreements, with options for flexible training, including part-time and extended training, to accommodate personal or professional needs. Trainees are expected to rotate between the three accredited training sites. Fixed-term positions are also available for various candidates, including provisional fellows and international medical graduates. Rural Generalist Anaesthesia (RGA) training is also integrated within the TATP.

Requirements

  • General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Conviction checks in the following areas: Crimes of Violence, Sex Related Offences, Serious Drug Offences, Crimes involving dishonesty.
  • Identification check.
  • Disciplinary action in previous employment check.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 24 months of junior medical officer experience.

Responsibilities

  • The Registrar is responsible for the day-to-day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital.
  • Provides after-hours emergency cover at the hospital as determined by the Department of Anaesthesia.
