About The Position
The Ambulatory Clinical Clerical Tech (ACT) supports a teaching clinic serving Adult Plastic Surgery and the Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, and Orthopedic Surgery residency programs. The role works closely with supervising physicians and resident physicians, helping provide continuity of care to patients with diverse and often complex needs. The clinic serves underserved members of the community, and the ACT contributes to patient care as well as the teaching and development of resident physicians. The ACT serves in both clinical and clerical capacities, delivering patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider and providing clerical support for complex matters. Corewell Health operates more than 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, offering a range of primary care and specialty practices. This is a part-time, day-shift position scheduled for 32 hours per week. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with workdays varying Monday through Friday. The position is based at the Ambulatory Care Building in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Two years of experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, or lab service support.
- Two years of clinical care experience.
Responsibilities
- Room patients.
- Collect and report vital signs and other health information.
- Stock and clean clinical areas.
- Document patient information.
- Perform administrative functions, including patient check-in and check-out.
- Schedule appointments.
- Obtain insurance authorizations.
- Provide clinical care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider.
- Provide clerical support in complex matters to assist in delivering value-driven health care services.
- Work closely with supervising physicians and resident physicians in the teaching clinic.
