About The Position

Senior Helpers of Las Vegas is hiring caregivers for morning shifts to provide in-home, non-medical assistance and companionship to seniors. Caregivers help clients with daily needs, encourage their independence and quality of life, and provide updates to the care team about clients’ condition and activities. A hiring bonus is available for new employees, including assistance with the costs of the required TB test and physical examination. After applying, candidates will receive a text message with a short survey link; completing the survey provides the opportunity to schedule an interview.

Requirements

• Must have a driver’s license, valid auto insurance, reliable personal transportation, a clean driving record, and willingness to drive a reasonable distance.
• Must be able to pass state and federal background checks and a drug screen.
• Must obtain a TB test and physical examination before beginning work.
• Must have CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Must provide two personal references and two professional references.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be willing to learn new skills to better serve clients.
• Must have proficient communication skills.
• Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned tasks.

Nice To Haves

• One year of field experience as a PCA or Home Health Aide is preferred; training is available for suitable candidates.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships with clients through conversation and companionship.
• Participate in clients’ preferred hobbies and activities, such as scrapbooking, gardening, and playing games.
• Prepare meals for clients.
• Assist clients with walking, dressing, and other activities of daily living.
• Report completed activities and provide updates about clients’ physical condition, mental capacity, and behavior.
