About The Position

The Altius Farms Operations Team Member assists with greenhouse or garden farm operations to ensure high-quality products are available to customers. Work includes cleaning, harvesting, seeding, and transplanting using organic farming methods, and may include weighing, packaging, and labeling products. The position is part-time, 16–24 hours per week, including one weekend day. Work is primarily at JFS Altius Farms in Denver, Colorado, and involves indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold. Employees must complete the primary COVID-19 vaccination series before starting employment. Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with agency policy.

Requirements

A valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.
Maintain a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements.
Complete the primary COVID-19 vaccination series before the start of employment.
Passion for sustainable farming and food production.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to provide good client and customer service.
A cooperative attitude and care in completing work tasks thoroughly and with attention to detail.
Attention to detail when following standard operating procedures and entering data into spreadsheets.
Dependability and reliability; consistent scheduling is critical.
Frequent use of hands to control or feel objects or tools; ability to climb and stand on step stools and small ladders for extended periods; visual acuity to work with seeds, seedlings, and other small items; and ability to stand for long periods.
Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift 50 pounds or more.

Nice To Haves

Preferred one to three years of experience in a restaurant or farming operation.
Preferred experience in outdoor and/or indoor farming operations.
Preferred experience in food safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

Clean greenhouses using shop vacuums, pressure washers, brooms, mops, and cleaning rags.
Clean daily with bleach, vinegar, food-grade sanitizers, and isopropyl alcohol.
Support the Farm Manager, temporary or contract workers, and volunteers.
Participate in seeding and transplanting.
Harvest plants indoors and outdoors using scissors and package produce.
Trim plants indoors and outdoors using scissors.
Dispose of trash and recycling.
Maintain food safety in compliance with farm guidelines.
Participate in pest management and harvesting as needed.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as rain coverings and boots, when duties require it.
Travel to multiple sites or community locations as part of regular job duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
