About The Position

As an Alterations Associate, you contribute to Von Maur’s reputation for customer service by performing general alterations on diverse women’s garments, from formal dresses with beading to tailored clothing. Garment work ranges from basic to moderately difficult sewing and alteration procedures. Candidates must be professionally competent in all basic and most advanced alterations.

The role includes helping customers with garment fittings, carrying out alterations and repairs, and preparing garments for customers. Von Maur describes itself as a family-owned company whose culture supports and values its employees and encourages professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers sincerely, be friendly, and thank every customer.
• Measure, fit, mark, and pin garments according to customer specifications.
• Disassemble, sew, and/or reassemble garments according to measurements taken during fitting.
• Use an iron and steamer to prepare garments for customers.
• Repair damaged or defective merchandise.
• Perform basic to moderately difficult sewing and alteration procedures.
• Maintain a clean department and work area.
