ALTERATIONS ASSOCIATE
About The Position
As an Alterations Associate, you contribute to Von Maur’s reputation for customer service by performing general alterations on a range of women’s garments, from formal dresses with beading to tailored clothing. Garment work may involve basic to moderately difficult sewing and alteration procedures. Candidates must be professionally competent in all basic and most advanced alterations. The role includes customer interaction, garment measuring and fitting, sewing and garment preparation, merchandise repair, and maintaining a clean department and work area. Requirements
- Professional competence in all basic alterations and most advanced alterations.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers sincerely, be friendly, and thank every customer.
- Measure, fit, mark, and pin garments according to customer specifications.
- Disassemble, sew, and/or reassemble garments based on measurements taken during fittings.
- Use an iron and steamer to prepare garments for customers.
- Repair damaged or defective merchandise.
- Perform basic to moderately difficult sewing and alteration procedures.
- Maintain a clean department and work area.
