About The Position
The Alterations Apprentice participates in an on-the-job training program designed to introduce the apprentice to the tailor trade and prepare them for a career in Nordstrom’s Tailor Shop. The role combines learning and hands-on work, covering sewing tools and techniques, simple and complex alterations, quality and service standards, workload management, and product knowledge related to fit, style, construction, and trends. The apprentice must meet customer and business needs while working a flexible schedule.
Requirements
- Clear, professional communication with coworkers and customers.
- Basic math and measuring skills.
- Ability to stay organized, prioritize multiple tasks, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to learn new processes and procedures quickly.

Responsibilities
- Learn sewing skills, including how to use trade tools and perform simple and complex alterations.
- Learn to meet quality and service expectations by following established guidelines.
- Learn to balance workload and complete projects promptly.
- Develop product knowledge related to fit, style, construction, and trends.
