About The Position

Community College of Philadelphia is seeking part-time adjunct faculty for the Allied Health Department to begin in Fall 2026. The department offers AAS degree programs in Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Health Care Studies, Health Services Management, Medical Lab Technology, and Respiratory Care Technology, as well as proficiency certificates in Medical Assisting, and Medical Insurance Billing and Patient Service Representative. Courses are offered at the Main Campus and the Northeast Regional Center. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Healthcare Related Profession.
  • Current license, certification or credential in a healthcare profession.
  • Demonstrated experience as a healthcare professional in the past five years.
  • Experience teaching a healthcare profession.
  • Ability to teach a variety of in-person day and evening, and first- and second-year courses, at the main campus and/or at Regional Centers.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in health care related profession, or a Master’s degree in education with a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related profession.
  • Current license, certification or credential in a healthcare profession (Medical Assisting, Nursing, Paramedic) to be qualified to teach introductory and advanced clinical skills in medical assisting, pharmacology, point-of-care laboratory.
  • Experience teaching and developing online courses.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching within a community college.
  • Bilingual or other language proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in health care professions, medical terminology, clinical skills in medical assisting, pharmacology, point-of-care laboratory testing, and other allied health subjects based on qualifications.
  • Participate in course/program assessment, course development, student mentoring, and retention efforts.
  • Support students in developing allied health knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes for college and workplace success.
  • Meet all scheduled responsibilities, including classes, office hours, and meetings, at designated times.
  • Be available to students via email, phone, or personal conferences, with clear communication of contact methods and hours.
  • Become an expert in curricula and course materials, preparing lectures, hands-on activities, and presentations.
  • Facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and evaluate student learning according to standard course outlines.
  • Assign grades and maintain course and student records in accordance with FERPA regulations, submitting them by deadlines.
  • Proactively identify and address student problems.
  • Maintain and develop curriculum consistent with departmental learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators on program curriculum, standards, and policies, including textbook selection.
  • Participate in the intellectual life of the department and the College through committees.
  • Engage in industry-related professional development activities, meetings, and conferences.
  • Engage in scholarly activities related to professional development and acquisition of skills related to nursing education.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the College’s Mission, vision, and values.
  • Actively participate in the academic life of the College, including graduation, recruitment events, and student life activities.
  • Create learning opportunities for students inside and outside the classroom, including teaching dual-enrollment high school students.

  • Establish an inclusive environment in the classroom, demonstrating sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Fully participate in the assessment of student learning at all levels.

  • Maintain office hours to meet with students outside of class.
