Alliances Manager (Corporate Partnerships)

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research

About The Position

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research is seeking an Alliances Manager to service inbound inquiries from corporate partners—including health and wellness companies, pharmaceutical, biotech, and health-tech organizations—and other research and healthcare funders. The role supports business development and stewardship across the partnership lifecycle by aligning prospective partners’ needs with the Foundation’s mission and directing them to relevant resources and partnership opportunities. The Alliances Manager helps cultivate priority partnerships and programs that increase the Foundation’s engagement with industry. The position collaborates with internal teams, members of the scientific community, technical experts, and government, nonprofit, industry, and corporate stakeholders. It also supports partnership development, sponsorship proposals, relationship stewardship, and research into the healthy-aging landscape.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of sales or business development, customer or client management, or healthcare consulting, with measurable success and achievement.
  • Sophisticated customer-service and/or client-management skills.
  • Strong external relationship-management and networking skills, including the ability to work with people at all organizational levels and understand stakeholder goals and objectives.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to adapt interpersonal style to internal and external partners.
  • Ability to translate and distill complex technical findings into clear, simple information that supports decision-making.
  • Commitment to teamwork and the ability to collaborate, manage projects through others, and influence action without direct authority.
  • Adaptability, comfort with ambiguity, and flexibility as business dynamics and priorities change.
  • Ability to balance multiple initiatives and prioritize activities.
  • Strategic, big-picture thinking combined with excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an external partner liaison and point of contact for inbound inquiries, facilitating handoffs to technical experts and teams across departments.
  • Manage a high-volume portfolio of emerging relationships with corporate partners and research and healthcare funders, directing them to relevant Foundation resources and partnership offerings.
  • Support department leaders with business development and stewardship activities, including developing partnership or sponsorship proposals and tracking partnership deliverables.
  • Represent the team in selected internal standing meetings, communicate business-unit priorities and perspectives, and report back on planning updates and program developments.
  • Support cross-department work, including sponsorship proposal development, opportunities to increase awareness of initiatives and resources, and other business needs as they arise.
  • Research corporate, industry, nonprofit, government, and venture capital sectors’ R&D portfolios to assess the healthy-aging landscape, its participants, and its challenges, informing partner-engagement priorities.
  • Engage in discussions about philanthropic trends and corporate-giving best practices and recommend ideas to help secure funding.
