About The Position
As an Airport Security Officer in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, you will serve and safeguard clients at a government transportation location. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for travelers, employees, and visitors. You will communicate professionally, respond to security-related concerns, and provide customer service. The role is part-time, scheduled Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, at a pay rate of $25.25 per hour.
Requirements
- At least one year of security-related experience.
- Valid driver's license; the posting specifies one or more years of experience with a valid driver's license.
- At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to pass a background check, physical, and drug screening.
- Ability to pass a background check according to the DOT Pass and ID office.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required before employment.
- A valid driver's license is required for driving positions only.
Nice To Haves
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- A guard card or license is preferred.
- Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to travelers, visitors, and personnel by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of airport terminals, public areas, parking facilities, access points, and perimeter locations, reporting unusual conditions.
- Monitor access to designated areas and assist with directing individuals in accordance with site-specific procedures.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and document activities.
- Help deter unauthorized activity by maintaining a visible presence and completing detailed incident and daily activity reports.
