Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking an Airport Safety Simulator Trainer to support the development and execution of DEN’s Driver Simulation Program. This role is responsible for managing simulator systems, developing scenario-based training, and integrating simulation into the broader Driver Education and Safety programs to improve operational safety outcomes. This position plays a critical role in advancing safety performance by delivering high-quality, simulation-based training aligned with FAA Part 139 requirements, DEN Rules and Regulations, and Safety Management System (SMS) principles.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Four (4) years of experience conducting technical or operational training in an aviation, transportation, or simulator-based environment, including experience with simulation hardware/software systems.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • By position requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
  • FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN).
  • Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment.
  • By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
  • If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
  • City and County of Denver employees may be re-deployed to work in other capacities in their own agencies or in other city agencies to support core functions of the city during a citywide emergency declared by the Mayor.
  • Applicants for employment with the City and County of Denver must have valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain DEN’s driver simulation systems, including configuration, updates, and performance monitoring
  • Develop and deliver simulation-based training programs aligned with airfield safety requirements
  • Design realistic operational scenarios (low visibility, incursions, FOD, jet blast, wildlife, snow operations)
  • Integrate simulator training into DEN’s Driver Education and Infraction Program
  • Analyze training performance data to identify trends and improve safety outcomes
  • Serve as liaison with simulator vendors, IT, and maintenance teams
  • Support development of SOPs, training materials, and technical documentation
  • Provide instruction and technical support to trainers and operational personnel
  • Support with conducting and scheduling Quality Assurance Reviews
