About The Position

Denver International Airport (DEN) is seeking a skilled Plumber Apprentice to join our Trades Program. This individual will participate in a formal, four-year training program, including on-the-job training and classroom instruction, to learn the methods, procedures, tools, and equipment necessary to become a skilled tradesperson. The program offers comprehensive training in various trades, including plumbing, with the goal of preparing apprentices to test for their Journeyman Plumbers License upon completion. DEN is a significant economic engine for Colorado and is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • None (Experience Requirement)
  • None (Education/Experience Equivalency)
  • A valid driver's license is required at the time of application
  • FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN).
  • Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment.
  • By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
  • Availability for shift work, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) or more years’ experience in large scale facility maintenance.
  • Experience teaching or training entry-level electrician.
  • Experience with reading and following schematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products and excellent computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance, maintenance, and repair work on all plumbing systems and fixtures in accordance with agency or department standards and code requirements.
  • Installs or alters new or upgraded plumbing systems and fixtures for the purpose of construction, tenant finishing or remodeling according to diagram specifications and code requirements.
  • Responds to plumbing service or trouble calls, troubleshoots, and provides problem resolution.
  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs various types of fire protection systems.
  • Maintains, tests, and installs devices to prevent backflow, back siphonage or cross connection.
  • Prepares working sketches and works from blueprints and written or verbal instructions.
  • Maintains records and prepares daily activity reports.
  • Estimates materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Assists in the maintenance and repair work in various skilled trades areas, such as Building/Electrical/HVAC.
  • Documents work hours and tasks.
  • Learns to identify, use, and maintain tools and equipment used in the trade.
  • Trains in and complies with standard safety rules and procedures common to the trade.
  • Trains in keeping routine records, writing reports, and completing forms.
