About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Aircraft Systems Design and Integration Engineer who can bring together deep avionics knowledge, practical aircraft experience, and engineering expertise to help transform complex customer requirements into successful aircraft solutions. At L2 Aviation, you'll combine your hands-on avionics expertise with engineering and innovation to solve complex aircraft integration challenges and see your designs come to life on real-world aviation programs. You will turn experience into innovation by applying years of aircraft and avionics expertise to develop practical engineering solutions. You will work across the aircraft, supporting avionics integration from initial design and documentation through installation, testing, troubleshooting, and certification. You will solve complex challenges by working on technically demanding aircraft modification and integration programs where your expertise makes a measurable difference. You will collaborate with industry experts, partnering with engineers, technicians, customers, program leaders, and certification professionals. You will expand your expertise by building deeper experience in systems engineering, aircraft integration, certification, and technical leadership.

Requirements

• 10+ years of avionics experience supporting commercial and business-category aircraft.
• Deep technical knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, functionality, integration, and testing.
• Demonstrated experience integrating avionics and communication systems into aircraft.
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A&P or AET license/certification with current experience or demonstrated expertise in avionics systems.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering design concepts and techniques.
• Experience with engineering change and configuration management.
• Ability to read and interpret aircraft blueprints, schematics, drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, and other engineering or business applications.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer-facing communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering teams and contribute to a culture focused on exceeding customer expectations.
• Ability and willingness to travel on short notice and provide on-site technical support domestically and internationally.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug testing and any applicable company/FAA Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program that may be required.
• Must be able to pass required background checks, including a 10-year TSA check if airport access or badging is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical and avionics system integration solutions for commercial and business aircraft.
• Create component-to-aircraft system integration drawings and designs using CAD tools.
• Develop System Requirement Documents and supporting engineering documentation.
• Evaluate new technologies, assess technical risks, and identify opportunities to improve aerospace system designs.
• Apply systems engineering principles and hands-on avionics knowledge to solve real-world aircraft integration challenges.
• Support aircraft communication, avionics, and electrical system integration throughout the program life cycle.
• Coordinate and support functional testing of integrated aircraft systems.
• Troubleshoot avionics and electrical systems following installation and modification.
• Provide technical expertise to Engineering teams, customers, and aircraft modification personnel.
• Support remote aircraft modifications through on-site technical expertise when required.
• Collaborate with internal engineers, customer engineering teams, and other technical stakeholders to resolve integration challenges.
• Develop integration drawings and technical designs suitable for review and approval by FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs).
• Read and interpret aircraft blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Support engineering change and configuration management activities.
• Maintain accurate engineering files and project documentation.
• Prepare technical correspondence, reports, and other documentation related to completed work.
• Maintain awareness of assigned aircraft program status, milestones, and technical requirements.
• Identify technical or operational risks that could affect program schedules and communicate concerns early.
• Coordinate with Program Management regarding project status, technical issues, and potential delays.
• Support the acquisition of required components and coordinate technical requirements during workload interruptions or irregular operations.
• Maintain professional, collaborative relationships with customers, Engineering, Program Management, and other internal teams.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by department management.
