Responsibilities include handling specialized devices, maintaining and repairing parachutes and survival kits, and ensuring the proper functioning of pilots' personal equipment. Corrosion control and prevention are also key aspects of the job. The mechanic will manage the issuance and return of equipment, maintain accountability records, and perform inspections. Additionally, the role involves operating and maintaining sewing machines for fabric repairs and construction, as well as installing and testing emergency radios. Some collateral duties, such as inspection functions, may be required. The position also entails completing maintenance forms, briefing flight personnel, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to various safety and operational programs. Assisting with the security and preservation of government equipment and interacting professionally with customers are also expected. There may be a requirement for off-site service during detachments.
