This position involves performing maintenance, repair, and installation of aircraft life support systems and aircrew personal survival equipment. The role requires working from government instructions, maintenance manuals, and company directives. Responsibilities include handling cartridge and propulsion actuated devices, packing and maintaining parachutes and survival kits, repairing and fitting pilot's personal equipment, performing corrosion control, issuing and receiving aircrew survival equipment, and maintaining relevant records. The mechanic will also assemble, inspect, and maintain oxygen mask assemblies, survival vests, helmets, and other safety equipment. This includes performing aircraft inspections, maintaining OOMA for accountability, and making minor repairs to sewing machines. Fabric construction using sewing machines and hand tacking is also part of the role, along with repairing fasteners and closures on survival equipment. Ordering supplies, installing and testing emergency radios, and potentially performing collateral duty inspection or CDQAR functions are also included. The role requires identifying and treating corrosion, completing maintenance forms, briefing flight personnel, maintaining work center cleanliness, and complying with FOD, Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control Programs. Assisting with the safety and preservation of government/company equipment and dealing with customers professionally are key aspects. The position may require off-site service on detachments.
