About The Position

The AI Transformation Lead will execute the AI transformation strategy across eBay’s global Payments Compliance organization, including Governance, Sanctions, Know Your Customer (KYC), case reviews, and regulatory filings. The role partners with compliance subject matter experts and technology teams to identify high-value AI opportunities, assess and redesign processes, translate business problems into use cases and requirements, and guide practical AI-enabled solutions from concept through implementation.

This hands-on position manages and sustains the Payments Compliance AI portfolio and roadmap, prioritizing initiatives based on feasibility, business value, compliance risk, and impact. Work spans strategy and execution, including process mapping, business-case development, prototyping, requirements refinement, testing, validation, and troubleshooting. The role also participates in Responsible AI, Legal, Privacy, and other applicable reviews to support human oversight, explainability, control integrity, auditability, and regulatory defensibility.

Requirements

• 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in compliance, financial services, technology transformation, or process improvement, including experience applying AI or automation to business problems.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Solid understanding of generative AI, large language models (LLMs), agentic AI, prompt engineering, workflow automation, and AI-enabled process transformation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to understand complex compliance workflows, identify transformation opportunities, and translate business needs into clear requirements.
• Ability to develop data-informed business cases and assess the value, feasibility, and impact of AI initiatives.
• Ability to work effectively across Compliance, Product, Engineering, Data Science, and other technical and non-technical teams without direct authority.
• Strong judgment and understanding of regulatory, governance, control, and human-oversight considerations associated with AI in compliance.
• Intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and ability to rapidly gain working knowledge across multiple Payments Compliance fields.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to translate between compliance subject matter experts and technical partners.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in financial crimes, payments compliance, or a related regulated field, with subject matter expertise in at least one area such as AML/investigations, sanctions, KYC, regulatory reporting, compliance governance, testing, or supervising.
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to work hands-on with AI tools; experience building custom GPTs, Gems, AI workflows, prototypes, or similar solutions is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code.

Responsibilities

• Partner with subject matter experts across Governance, Sanctions, KYC, Investigations, and Regulatory Reporting to identify processes and challenges where AI can improve effectiveness, efficiency, consistency, or risk management.
• Assess existing processes and help redesign how work should be performed using AI rather than merely automating current-state workflows.
• Translate compliance problems and operational needs into defined AI use cases, business requirements, workflows, and success criteria.
• Own and maintain the Payments Compliance AI strategic plan and portfolio, including use-case intake, prioritization, dependencies, benefits, implementation status, and realized outcomes.
• Develop business cases for AI initiatives by assessing current effort, expected efficiency gains, capacity savings, risk reduction, and other measurable benefits.
• Partner with product management, software development, data analytics, Responsible AI, and other teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support AI initiatives from concept through implementation.
• Develop hands-on prototypes and proof-of-concepts where appropriate using tools such as tailored GPTs, Gems, Claude Code, and other emerging AI capabilities.
• Participate in solution design, testing, validation, and iteration to ensure solutions address compliance needs and work effectively in real-world workflows.
• Represent Compliance in Responsible AI, Legal, Privacy, and other applicable reviews, supporting human oversight, explainability, control integrity, auditability, and regulatory defensibility.
• Stay current on AI developments and evaluate how new technologies can be applied responsibly within Payments Compliance.
