About The Position

The AI Specialist helps Finance, People, Legal, and other internal teams reduce repetitive work by identifying high-value problems and building practical solutions, beginning with Finance. Solutions may include shared data views, automated approvals, dashboards, and AI-enabled workflows. The role works directly with functional teams to understand their systems, data, business rules, and priorities. The specialist builds most solutions personally, partners with engineers when deeper technical work is needed, and takes solutions from discovery through testing, adoption, and measurement of impact. Success means teams use the solutions, work gets done faster, and UFORCE can grow without a corresponding increase in manual work, software, vendors, or headcount. This is a hands-on role combining business judgment with the ability to turn ambiguous problems into useful solutions. The specialist will focus on Finance reporting and data, People workflows and workforce information, and repeatable Legal and Compliance checks. They will discover and prioritize opportunities across G&A, redesign processes around technology, and build, test, improve, scale, or stop solutions based on measurable results. They will partner with the Director of Business Data & Intelligence on architectural direction for larger or cross-system solutions and involve engineering, security, or human reviewers when complexity, risk, or sensitivity warrants it. They will also drive adoption and document impact, such as reduced manual effort, faster turnaround, improved decision-making, or reduced software and vendor pressure.

Requirements

  • Personally use AI deeply and have built useful tools, agents, automations, analyses, or workflows; be able to explain what was built, what failed, how it was improved, and whether people used it.
  • Demonstrate business and financial judgment sufficient to understand company processes, numbers, approvals, and reporting, and to determine which information should be trusted.
  • Be comfortable inspecting data, connecting information across systems, reconciling conflicting definitions, and turning data into useful analysis or reporting; data engineering expertise is not required.
  • Identify underlying problems without waiting for fully formed requirements, challenge overly broad requests when appropriate, remove unnecessary steps, and redesign how work gets done.
  • Prioritize high-value opportunities, ship useful solutions, learn from real usage, and know when to stop or deprioritize work rather than perfecting a low-value solution.
  • Influence people who do not report to you to change how they work and make a tool or workflow part of everyday operations.
  • Handle sensitive company, financial, employee, and legal information carefully; understand AI output can be wrong and recognize when human review, access controls, security support, or engineering involvement are required.
  • Describe a solution, workflow, analysis, or process personally shipped and explain its measurable impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Finance Operations, Business Operations, Strategy & Operations, investment or VC, or another analytical business function.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools, automation, low-code workflows, and/or Notion.
  • Comfort with data analysis, dashboards or BI, SQL, APIs, or scripting; depth in every area is not required.
  • Experience working in a fast-growing company where processes and systems were still being built.
  • Experience working with Finance, People, Legal, compliance, or other corporate functions.
  • Experience taking an AI-enabled tool or workflow from prototype to sustained adoption and measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Build a trusted view of Finance actuals, cash burn, expenses, and budget performance by mapping priority systems, aligning definitions, identifying trusted sources, and reducing manual reconciliation.
  • Launch recurring cash-burn and expense reporting from Payhawk, then expand the shared data approach to actuals, budget-versus-actual tracking, and leadership reporting as additional systems become available.
  • Help Finance spend less time assembling reports and more time planning and making decisions through dashboards, analysis, and AI-assisted views.
  • Give People a reliable company-level view of headcount and hiring information, including workforce areas missing from central reporting.
  • Improve recurring People workflows such as recruiting operations, hiring analytics, onboarding, follow-ups, reminders, and compliance-related tasks where evidence supports it.
  • Help Legal and Compliance move high-value repeatable checks, tracking, and follow-up into clear, auditable workflows, including embedding policy-compliance checks into the software approval process where appropriate.
  • Discover and prioritize G&A opportunities by understanding how work happens, establishing a baseline, and selecting problems with the greatest business impact.
  • Redesign processes around what technology can do, build the simplest useful solution, put it in front of real users quickly, and improve, scale, or stop it based on measurable results.
  • Partner with the Director of Business Data & Intelligence on architectural direction for larger or cross-system solutions, and involve engineering, security, or human reviewers when complexity, risk, or sensitivity requires it.
  • Drive adoption so useful solutions become part of normal operating workflows, and document before-and-after impact, including reduced manual effort, faster turnaround, improved decision-making, or reduced software and vendor pressure.
