AI Research Internship (Summer 2027)
About The Position
Vatic Labs is a quantitative trading firm in New York where traders, AI researchers, and technologists collaborate to develop autonomous trading agents and advanced technology. As an AI Intern, you will contribute to research and development of fully autonomous trading agents. The work involves exploring large volumes of market data, researching AI approaches, and applying machine learning algorithms and statistical methods to identify and capitalize on trading opportunities. The firm offers an open, academic environment centered on collaboration and rigorous analytics. Its teams draw on expertise in computer science, mathematics, statistics, and physics, and provide interns with tools and mentorship. The role is intended for researchers who have demonstrated the ability to produce impactful academic research.
Requirements
- Earned or will earn a PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience coding in C++ or Python in a Linux environment.
- Experience analyzing large datasets using rigorous statistical and machine learning approaches, including classification, clustering, and regression.
- In-depth technical knowledge of AI, deep learning, and machine learning algorithms, including their mathematical foundations.
- Curiosity about understanding why and how techniques work.
- Deep knowledge of time-series analysis.
- Interest and enthusiasm for learning about financial markets; prior experience is not required.
Nice To Haves
- Advanced knowledge of a high-level numerical analysis language; Python and the NumPy/SciPy stack are preferred.
- Contributions to AI and machine learning research communities.
- Top-tier peer-reviewed publications or experience publishing or presenting papers at conferences such as NeurIPS or ICML.
