AI Product Engineer (m/w/d)
About The Position
getpress is developing its own AI agent platform (LangGraph, PostgreSQL, Next.js) for the PR industry. The service market, from legal to consulting to agencies, is facing the biggest transformation in history. At the same time, the multi-billion dollar PR market is becoming increasingly important in the age of AI visibility. getpress, one of Germany's fastest-growing PR agencies (>40 people, clients like Trivago, Komoot, Fonio AI, or AutoScout24), has decided to lead this change rather than wait. We are building the PR Company of the future: no longer just a service company, but a Service-as-a-Software company. Our AI team has been in place for 4 months, currently consisting of one developer, a product manager, and our Head of AI. The basic architecture is in place, and initial parts of our PR platform and multi-agent system are running productively. Now, we need you – the person who, as a Backend Engineer, will own and redefine the technical foundation together with our second developer, and together redefine how the PR of the future works.
Requirements
- > 3 years of experience in software development
- > 1 year of experience in developing AI agents and components such as memory, context engineering, retrieval, and orchestration using frameworks like Langchain, CrewAI, Langgraph, or similar.
- TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, Docker, Git, LangGraph, Github
- Experience in developing backend systems with frameworks (FastAPI, Spring Boot, and NestJS, etc.) and common programming languages (e.g., Java, Typescript, Python)
- Experience with container-based and cloud-native architectures (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or similar)
- C1 German skills are an advantage, B2 level is sufficient (with motivation to reach C1 level within your first year of employment)
Nice To Haves
- Data competence: Proficient in SQL, API design, schema design, query optimization
- Experience with the integration of AI/ML models into production systems, as well as understanding model behavior, model performance, and model limitations
- Product Engineering: Experience in classifying requirements from a business and user perspective before technical implementation
- Experience in Event-Driven Architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
- Experience with Agentic Development (Claude Code, Codex, or similar)
Responsibilities
- Full-stack development of the platform, which will become the operating system of the PR agency in 2027. Close to users, in fast development cycles, where your decisions set the course.
- Building an agent system that redefines the PR value chain end-to-end. You will build the agents that our consultants work with daily, including self-learning loops and multi-agent orchestration.
- Co-designing the system architecture, including workflows, data model, interfaces, compliance, and tech stack (primarily PostgreSQL, Next.js, LangGraph, Docker so far).
- Further development of the database architecture, including relational data and vector databases.
